In Organic Abstracts, I’ll take you behind the scenes of my full practice: from gathering inspiration in nature to building rich, layered surfaces in the studio. You’ll learn how to choose and work with materials confidently, while also leaving space for accidents, discoveries, and the unexpected. Beyond the materials, this is about giving yourself permission to explore, make mistakes, and find a way of working that feels true to you. Hi, I'm Jamie

I’m an abstract painter based in Rockaway Beach, New York, inspired by the textures and shifting light of the ocean. My work explores depth, memory, and atmosphere through layered surfaces that feel alive.

Through Organic Abstracts, I share this process with artists around the world. More than 800 people have joined so far, learning how to build texture, use fluid washes, and develop their own unique voice in abstraction.

I can’t wait to see what you create.

Your Path to Organic Abstracts

Six modules to take you from inspiration to finished painting
module one

Finding Inspiration

Learn to see with fresh eyes and uncover your creative spark. I’ll share the places and moments that fuel my practice- from textures found in nature to quiet observations in the studio. This module helps you slow down, notice overlooked details, and gather inspiration you can return to again and again.

Module Two

Materials

Step inside my studio and explore the tools I use most often- from pigments and powders to brushes and mediums. I’ll show you how each plays a role in my process and help you build confidence in choosing and preparing your own. You’ll also receive a PDF with every material I use, plus links to purchase them yourself.

Module Three

Creating Texture

Texture is at the heart of my work. In this module, you’ll learn how to build tactile surfaces using natural powders, pastes, and washes. I’ll guide you through creating layers that feel alive and organic, so your paintings hold both depth and presence.

Module Four

Starting a Painting

We’ll walk through those first marks on the canvas and the steps that set the tone for a piece. You’ll learn how to approach a blank surface with curiosity, looseness, and trust in the process- creating a strong foundation for everything that follows.

Module Five

Layering

This is where the painting begins to shift and surprise you. I’ll show you how to respond to what’s already on the canvas, adding washes, veils, and marks that build depth and cohesion. You’ll discover how to move through unresolved areas and let each layer guide the next towards a balanced composition.

Module Six

Finishing Touches

The final details can bring everything together. I’ll share how I know when a painting is complete, and how to add those subtle gestures that make a piece feel resolved. You’ll leave with clarity on how to finish your own work with confidence.

"Jamie was an excellent teacher. I learnt her technique with limestone and marble powder mixing it with different paints. She also taught me how to do the "water" effect on the paintings. I really enjoyed her class and I would tell everybody who wants to learn about her techniques to do it and they would have a great time and learn a lot"
